Merry Christmas 2014

December 22, 2014 by Steves

It’s a typical December with the last minute rush to buy the kids a bike for Christmas. Our 50cc Braaap sales which come with $500 Fox protective clothing and helmet are going well with only a few left. The shop is in a frenzy trying to keep up with the demand.   I cheated last week, and scored 3 days off to tackle some of the tar roads down south. The trip was organised by Stu and Pete who based us at the Nannup pub for the 2 nights. Twelve of us made the effort, and had a great time with no accidents or speeding tickets. The winding roads near Nannup make for some top notch riding. The evenings were full of the usual tall stories and all the laughter one can manage. Great stuff.   Back at the shop, we are working towards our new ecommerce store which is Read More →

Dowerin & Maintenance Workshop

September 4, 2014 by Steves

Woohoo!! We have survived another hectic Dowerin event.   The week of the Dowerin Machinery Field Day is always a huge effort.   We haul all our gear up over the Monday and Tues – set up the whole show Wednesday morning and pull it down again Thurs afternoon for the long haul back to Midland. It was 10.00pm Thursday before we finally hit the cot, only to be up again at sparrows fart to head back to Dowerin to pick up the last of the bikes and rescue the bus.   Thanks Picko for the use of your closed in trailer which was stuffed full of accessories and clothing, and to Uncle Brian for the use of his truck to transport the bikes.   Great to catch up with many of our country customers. Great to see you all.   On Saturday afternoon I had the pleasure of hosting Read More →

Historics Round 7

August 26, 2014 by Steves

A new track lap record was set during Round 7 of the Historic Road Race Championships, held on Sunday.   Not all smooth sailing though. The officials had a hiccough with the electronic equipment and we finally got the event underway an hour later than scheduled with Paul Castling (President of the HCMC) and I commentating.   Some of the old girls racing dated back as far as the early 30’s and were still getting along at a reasonable pace – although Paul, used to modern bike racing thought the time were a bit leisurely.   A lot of the boys were treating the day as a tuning day in preparation for the Australian Championships to be held at Lakeside in sunny old Queensland on next month. Overall the fields were good, and the racing great. There was a good field of juniors, and their race skills were of a Read More →

12th Annual Mill Farm Classic Scrambles

August 20, 2014 by Steves

What a great weekend! “Tug-a-long the Booze Bus” and I headed off to Wandering for the 12th Annual Mill Farm Scrambles. I got a blow out before I even left the metro area, changed it and ran the gauntlet to Wandering without a spare, arriving at 4pm. As usual, a natural terrain track was marked out on the side of a rocky hill ready to take on those that dared.   The food van was in its usual spot giving the catering ladies a prime view of the track. They served up a first class roast for tea and everyone sat around the bonfire to enjoy some of the best racing stories you have ever heard. Had a few to tell myself. tourist maps .   About 50 riders walked the track and picked the rocks off so they wouldn’t become missiles for the rider behind once racing started. This Read More →

Braaap Learn to Ride Day 10-08-2014

August 13, 2014 by Steves

Hi everyone,   As you can see, we had a fat weekend at our Braaap Learn to Ride day. The event was hosted by Simon Gibbins of Mushroom Farm Racing on his own personal MX track. One of the best kept secrets around, the 700 metre track is built on sand with a clay layer on top to make it easier to ride for small bikes and beginners….   ….and this was certainly us. We had a full array of riders, from first timers, to some really fast dirt bike big boys who got out there and showed the newbies what they could look forward to. dom information . The track catered for them all, and I extend many thanks to my staff, Jayden, Beki and Mark for helping out. oracle cloud They certainly got a fitness workout, running alongside the littlies as they made steady progression from not ever Read More →

Steves Blog

Gidday Trend Setters and all the other normal people. It’s the Big Kahuna here writing my first newsletter for Steve’s.   There has been a lot happening in the past few weeks with the Chidlow Challenge and The Eric Walter Day for juniors at Chidlow Motocross Track being a big success. The Motocross season is in full swing for all aspects of the sport.   The vintage Motorcycle Club has an All-terrain Day coming up at Wandering on the 17th August. Always a top days racing for all the bygone past bikes and riders.   The Motorcycle Racing Club of WA has just had their 4th State Round at Barbagallo Raceway with the big boys dropping into the 56 sec lap times. Our Number 1 sponsored Rider Anthony McFadden also managed to break into the 56 second bracket. Not bad for an old fella of 52. The club will be Read More →
